Michael Weening
Job title: Director, Communications Sector UK
Michael was appointed Director, Communications Sector, Microsoft UK in July 2007. Michael is responsible for all aspects of sales to, and partnership with, the telecommunications and media & entertainment industries, and for the software plus service channel across the UK. His mandate includes delivering business value through successful customer and partner relationships, based on solutions and innovative sources of revenue for the industry, through high quality products, support and services.
Michael’s focus is to build on the strength of the already successful partnerships within the UK and he will look to bring his understanding of people and business priorities to facilitate partner and customer expansion.
Michael joins the UK team from Canada, where he was Director of the Canadian Communications Sector team. Michael was instrumental in designing best practice go-to-market strategies and partnerships, customer satisfaction ratings and double digit sales growth, matched by complementary expansion within the team.
Prior to joining the Communications team, Michael was a team leader within Microsoft Canada’s Financial Services team. Before Microsoft, Michael was the District Manager for IXOS Software for the US Federal and Canadian Markets and held positions at Dell Computer and OE, a division of Canon Canada Inc.
Michael graduated from Brock University with a degree in Business and Marketing. Michael is married with two sons and is now based in the UK. He enjoys golfing, skiing and travelling with his family, who are determined to see every castle in Britain.
